Private guided panoramic hike with fine dining lunch

Mt. Ulriken

This private guided tour on Mt. Ulriken offers experiences that combine nature and culture with culinary delights. Since 1961, the Ulriken cable car has transported passengers from the city to the high mountain. With the new cable car, it takes 6 minutes to travel to the real high mountain nature. The hike offers panoramic views of the city, fjords, and landscape, as well as stories about the mountain and the people who have used it and still use it today. The route we take is off the beaten track with very few hikers. It winds through various landscapes and is therefore very diverse.

The Skyscraper restaurant lives up to its name, located spectacularly at the top of Mt. Ulriken. The culinary experiences at The Skyscraper celebrate Norwegian flavors, with a seasonal menu that changes with the seasons. Inspired by nature, traditions, and the ever-changing weather of the western region.

Itinerary

  • Your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to the lower station of the Cable car, by taxi.
  • You take the Cable car to the top.
  • At the top, you may use the facilities; go to the bathroom, fill up your water bottle, etc.
  • You embark on the hike, which is a roundtrip that starts and ends by the upper station of the cablecar, by the Skyscraper restaurant.
  • Along the route, there will be a stop with selected Norwegian treats to snack.
  • After the hike your guide bids you fare well, and your three-course lunch with a view awaits.
  • You take the cable car back down.

(Transport back to the city center is not included. Your guide or your host at The Skyscraper will be happy to assist you in ordering a taxi or planning out your public transportation to where you are headed next.)

Practical information

The trip as a whole lasts about 6 hours. We walk between 4.5 - 8.2 km, depending on the group's physical condition and wishes.

Bring a small backpack for extra clothes, a water bottle, sunglasses, sun lotion, a phone, a camera, etc. You can fill up your water bottle at the cable car's upper station. We recommend using hiking shoes and dressing according to the weather. Mt Ulriken however is exposed to shifting weather. To be prepared for various conditions, dress in layers of clothes and cover with a windproof shell. Then you may easily adjust your temperature.

Please consider in time to notify us about allergies as this is a high mountain restaurant with pre-booked lunch.

Be aware that the hike is sensitive to bad weather. In case of fog or strong winds, your guide will take you on an alternative hike below the tree line.
